Eventually you end up with a fitted ferrule.
And another one.
It is now time to feather the tabs.
Needed: lathe, sand paper, a drill bit blank of the proper size and steel wool. A drill bit can be used instead of the blank. The tab portion of the ferrules is going to be wrapped with silk tread, which is very fine. The purpose of feathering is to facilitate a smooth transition as the tread moves from the bamboo up onto the tab so we don’t end up with a sudden rise in our wrap.
Top ferrule is done. The picture does not show how sharp the edges of the tabs have become.
Three ferrules ready to be glued on the rod.
