Celebrating our 40th year:
1968-2008

MFFA’s Wellman Lake Cabin

The club built a cabin at Wellman Lake in the 1970’s.  The cabin is free to use for all MFFA members and is generally open from ice off until Thanksgiving weekend.  Each member is entitled to bring one non-member as a guest.  Access in controlled by a combination padlock that is changed each year.  The combination is provided when club membership is paid.  Everyone using the cabin is asked to put their name and date in the cabin log book.

The cabin is designed to sleep a fair number of folks. There are three small bedrooms, all with a set of solid home made bunks and one single bed.  Each bed has a foam mattress.  The living area has two futons and a TV.  A large two door restaurant sized refrigerator lives at one end of the living room.  The kitchen has an electric stove, cupboards and counter with a sink.  The kitchen contains most of the essentials (pots, pans, cutlery, glasses/mugs, etc.), however, you might want to bring paper towels, dish soap and such.  There is a microwave and coffee maker.  The kitchen table has four chairs and more stacked by the stove.  The cabin is heated by electric baseboard heaters.  There is no running water.  You have to fill a 5-gallon jug with water at the hand pump a couple hundred meters up the road.  The biffy is outback.  The cabin has most of the essentials you’ll need.  Common sense will likely prevent you from forgetting anything critical … and you’re not far from Wellman Lake Lodge if you do forget something important.

If you need more information and directions to the cabin, email mffa@mffa.org or call Brian at 467-5510.

The cabin raffle will be conducting again in 2009. The process will be identical to last year. The raffle will be held to pick members interested in having the cabin for exclusive use for a one week period. Click here to read more and obtain the form.
