Mustad 9671 or equivalent. Size 10 to 18
Thread:
Black prewaxed 3/0 or 6/0
Tail:
Ringneck pheasant tail fibers
Body:
Pearlescent flashabou or mylar gift wrapping tape or ribbon.  Cut into narrow strips.
Rib:
Fine gold or silver wire
Thorax:
Black wool and/or fur with guard hairs, well picked out
Wing case:
Pearlescent flashabou or mylar gift wrapping tape or ribbon.


 
"One of my favorite searching flies for ponds and streams.  Fish the Flashabou Nymph on a short leader with a sink-tip line or floating line depending on the water depth.  Watch very alertly for takes since most fish do not hit nymphs hard - they don't need to.
